Transparent watercolor on Arches 140-lb
watercolor paper.
Approximately 17” x 21” matted and framed
(1" deep) in a natural wood showbox.
Barbara and her husband, Woody, lost
their house and her art studio to the hurricane. The homesite
remains a pile of rubble over a year after the storm.
More of Barbara’s artwork can be
seen at her website.
Her work is available for purchase at the website, and also at
Magnolia Framing & Art Gallery; and both Behold Custom Framing and Art
Gallery and Funky Rose in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Originally a native of Michigan, Barbara
Brodtmann earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Hillsdale College
with advanced studies at Syracuse University.
The warmth of the people and the beauty
of the land experienced during a two-week vacation inspired
Barbara and her husband, Woody, to move to Bay St. Louis, MS
Art has always fascinated Barbara —
she is happiest when outside painting. She loves to watch
the effects of sunlight, especially the warm glow created by
morning light, and feels that the fresh, vibrant quality of
watercolor best captures them.
